How should acrylic products be packed for international shipping?

13 / PROTECTION AND CHARGEABLE WEIGHT

International packing must address scratches, compression and movement inside the carton.

A separated and restrained carton is shown beside 0.08 and 0.04 cubic metre packing volumes and a 20-piece carton check.
Packing example: 0.08 m³ to 0.04 m³ reduces volume by 50%. Validate the actual 20-piece carton and compare the full freight and assembly cost.

Separate surface protection from cushioning

Protective film mainly addresses surface contact; cushioning and restraint address collisions in transit. Two finished parts stacked directly together have different scratch risks from parts that are individually separated and secured. Include protection against compression in the packing review.

Compare assembled and flat-pack options

Compare an assembled shipment with a knock-down option where the design allows it. If carton volume falls from 0.08 m³ to 0.04 m³, the volume falls by 50%. Actual freight still depends on weight, charging rules and any assembly cost.

Validate the full packing quantity

Validate the packing sample with the actual products. If the order uses 20 pieces per carton, check restraint and cushioning with all 20 pieces packed. A photograph of one individually wrapped piece cannot establish how the complete carton performs.

TRY YOUR PACKED DIMENSIONS

Compare carton volume and freight weight

Worked example using a divisor of 5,000 and the higher of actual and volumetric weight. Confirm the service's divisor and charging rules with your forwarder.

Carton volume: 0.080 m³

Volumetric weight16.0 kg
Higher of actual & volumetric16.0 kg

Use the outside dimensions of the sealed carton. Confirm the applicable carrier and service rules before booking.
